Comments: The present Law is consolidated as of 3 May 2016.
The present Law repeals the Port Extension Law of 30 October 1961.

The present Law regulates the development of the Port of Hamburg as an universal port. In particular, the port development shall be done by port extension and further development of the existing harbour under Hamburg land use planning legislation. In such a way economic and technical requirements necessary to maintain the competitiveness of the port of Hamburg as an international universal port shall be ensured. The text consists of 23 articles divided into 4 Parts as follows: General provisions (I); Safety and control of port development (II); Establishment of plans and expropriation proceedings (III); Final provisions (IV).
