Constitutional provisions
Constitution of Iraq. Date of text: 2005.
Right to water: No provisions relating the right to water.
Natural resources: The federal government shall have exclusive authorities in the planning policies relating to water sources from outside Iraq and guaranteeing the rate of water flow to Iraq and its just distribution inside Iraq in accordance with international laws and conventions. Formulating and regulating the internal water resources policy in a way that guarantees their just distribution, is among the competencies shared between federal authorities and regional authorities. (Art.114)
