Surface Waters (Fishlife) (Classification) Regulations 1997 (S.I. No. 1331 of 1997).

These Regulations prescribe a system for classifying the quality of inland freshwaters which need protection or improvement in order to support fish life. The classifications SW ("salmonid waters") and CW ("cyprinid waters"), and the criteria for those classifications set out in the Schedule shall apply for classifying inland freshwaters which need protection. Sampling of waters shall be done under responsibility of the Environment Agency.
