Standards (Belize National Standard BZS1: Part 2: 1998) (Specification for Labelling - Labelling of Pre-packaged Goods) (Declaration as a Compulsory Standard) Order, 1999 (S.I. No. 117 of 1999).

The purpose of the declaration of a compulsory standard is primarily to prevent fraud or deception arising from misleading advertising or labelling of pre-packaged goods and to require that adequate information be given to customers and users. It applies to all pre-packaged goods intended for retail sale that can be sold without further packaging. The Standard includes rules regarding naming, identification, language, content, retail price, instructions for use, date marking, expiry, etc.
