Legislative Decree No.196 implementing Directive 97/12/CE amending and updating Directive 64/432/CEE on animal health problems affecting intra-Community trade in bovine animals and swine.

This Presidential Decree implements Directive 97/12/CE concerning animal health problems affecting intra-Community trade in bovine animals and swine with the exception for feral pigs, as specified in article 2. The Decree strengthens the veterinary and zootechnical checks to control certain animal diseases, implementing also some rules for control of slaughterhouses, assembly centres, transporters and dealers. The veterinarians must be appointed by the competent authority of the Member States (Annexes are not included).
