Pursuant to Act No. 447 of 1995, this Act makes provision at regional level in matter of noise pollution. In particular, the Act defines the functions to be exercised by the various local institutions (Region, Provinces and Communes) in this field. The Region shall be responsible for adopting directives and elaborating criteria to be applied by the Provinces and the Communes in the drafting of noise classification plans (arts. 4 and 5), issuance of authorizations to carry out particular temporary activities and public events, approval of restoration plans, etc. The Regional Agency for the Protection of the Environment (ARPAT) shall cooperate by providing information and submitting to the Regional Council special reports on the status of the effective implementation of this Act. Article 17 sets out administrative sanctions.
