This Act provides for the establishment of the Ewaso Ng'iro North River Basin Development Authority as a body corporate, provides for its powers, functions and administration and defines regulation-making powers of the Minister. The Authority shall be responsible for: (a) planning for the development of the Ewaso Ng'iro North River Basin and the catchment areas (together "Area") and initiate project activities identified from such planning in the Area; (b) undertake or coordinate studies of schemes relative to use of human, water, animal, land and other resources and the development of natural resources including agriculture, forestry, wildlife and tourism industries, electric power generation, mining and fishing; (d) monitor the implementation of development programmes; and (d) ensure that landowners in the Area undertake all the measures specified by the Authority to protect the water and soils of the Area.
