This part of Chapter 63 provides rules relative to the taking of live coral, places restrictions on the use of fishing nets and prohibits the use of pelagic fishnets and the importation, transhipment or possession of fish or fish products harvested with a pelagic drift net. It shall be prohibited to remove live coral from a specified area near the coast of Guam, but commercial harvesting licences may be obtained from the Director of Agriculture for other taking of live coral. The Director may restrict the amount of coral to be taken under any license and may impose such other restrictions as may be necessary to ensure the conservation of coral fields. It shall be prohibited to use nets with a mesh smaller than specified but some exceptions are made for specified purposes. The manufacture, assembly, importation, transhipment, transfer from one vessel or aircraft to another vessel or aircraft, or possession of pelagic drift nets, components, or materials destined for their manufacture, in the territory or waters of Guam is prohibited. Restrictions are also placed on the use of certain fishing devices.
