The purpose of this Ordinance is to prevent the spreading of rabies. The Ordinance shall not apply to protected wild animals. The Director shall appoint authorized officers who shall have the power to: destroy infected animals; seize and detain animals; seize, sterilize or destroy animal products, carcasses, etc. which may cause rabies; vaccinate animals; inspect premises; etc. The Ordinance, among other things, provides for the following matters: feeding of animals; licensing of animals; abandonment of animals; animals to be kept under control; animal bites; rabies control areas; places prohibited to animals; quarantine and observation centres; etc.
