This Ministerial Decree designates the State Inspectorate for the Technical State and Safety of Waterworks as the state institution responsible for the safety of waterworks. To this end, the Inspectorate shall: (a) control the technical condition and safety of waterworks; (b) protect large and important waterworks; (c) prevent accidents at waterworks; (d) validate technical rules and regulations regarding safety criteria for waterworks; (e) coordinate the use of waterworks areas, river beds and land in water protection zones for economic activity; (f) validate declarations of waterworks safety; and (g) register waterworks.
