The present Law establishes comprehensive regulations for environmental protection and public access to environmental information in Salzburg, aligning with relevant European Union directives. The law covers the permitting, operation, and monitoring of major industrial installations (IPPC facilities), setting strict requirements for emission limits, use of best available techniques, and regular environmental inspections. It mandates the creation of noise maps and action plans to address environmental noise from industry and road traffic. A key section ensures the public’s right to access environmental information held by authorities, outlining procedures for information requests, exceptions, protection of business secrets, and legal remedies. The Act also regulates the prevention and remediation of environmental damage, including clear responsibilities for polluters, cost allocation, and cross-border impacts.
