This Ordinance provides with respect to a wide variety of matters regarding nature conservation in the province of the Cape of Good Hope. It established the Department of Nature and Environmental Conservation and the Nature and Environmental Conservation Advisory Committee. the Act provides for, among other things, protection of wildlife, hunting, the protection of fish in inland waters, protection of endangered fauna and flora as listed in the Convention on international Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, the control of harmful animals, the establishment of provincial nature reserves and enforcement.
