This Decree-Law is composed of four Chapters divided into 39 articles and one annex. It sets criteria for access to credit for fishery development. The Fund is a special credit institution whose object is to carry out restricted credit and other financing activities for the fisheries sector. It is also authorized to receive deposits and to use the funds received to grant credit to the fisheries sector and to acquire financial holdings, and may also carry out operations or services complementary to this activity, compatible with its nature, under the terms defined in its statutes and within the limits established by the applicable legislation.
