This Act makes provision for the establishment, registration, operation and management of cooperatives. The Act provides for: legal capacity and powers of cooperatives; members of cooperatives and their rights and liabilities; cooperatives’ rules; operations of cooperatives; management and administration of cooperatives; cooperatives’ funds and property; restrictions on the acquisition of interests in cooperatives; the unification or division of cooperatives; foreign cooperatives; supervision and protection of cooperatives; offences and penalties; etc.
