This Law, consisting of 9 articles, creates the State Programme for Apiculture Development (PROAPIS) within the State of Rio Grande do Norte. This Programme aims at promoting the following sectors: improvement of apiculture activity with a view to encouraging farming development, development, production and productivity of apiculture within the State; stimulate the research for developing new technologies facilitating apiculture work and increasing its productivity; to define a State policy on apiculture, with clear objectives related to production, benefits and trade of honey and its sub-products; to promote the selection of and improvement of Brazilian hybrid bees (AHB), incentivizing the genetic improvement; to define based on technical criteria, the potentialities of each region to develop apiculture; to promote the exploitation of apiculture in small and mid lands as a income generating activity for family farmers, etc.
