This Regional Legislative Decree creates and approves the Statute of the Agency for Environmental Management and Conservation of Nature, AZORINA S.A. Its Statute, consisting of five Chapters, establishes composition duties and competencies of the above mentioned Agency, which main objectives are the following: promotion of environmental management and conservation of nature and natural resources, including activities in the field of public participation in environmental areas and dissemination of information and environmental education. In addition, it aims at: encouraging and supporting the integrated management of terrestrial and marine protected areas, valuing the natural resources their landscape and biodiversity of the Azores; implementing projects and actions aimed at protecting local biodiversity, geodiversity and environmental, hydrological, and geological resources as the consequent adoption of management measures territory; building operation and maintenance of infrastructure for collection, transfer, valuation and disposal of waste, wastewater and its derivatives; promoting and supporting the development of skills for participation, information, awareness, education and training in environmental matters, including integrated regional, environmental centers, etc.
