This Decree, consisting of 8 articles, establishes the State Programme to Fight Desertification and to Mitigate the effects of Drought within the State of Bahia. The Programme aims at guaranteeing to local populations good conditions of life through the creation of environmental measures to combat desertification and to minimize the effects of drought and through the State Plan to Combat Desertification ensuring the integration of policies and actions taken by agencies and members of the State Public Administrations. In addition, it creates the Steering Committee to Combat Desertification and Mitigate the Effects of Drought, entitled to coordinate the development and monitor the implementation of the State Plan to Combat Desertification, and to ensure the integration of policies and actions taken by agencies and entities of the Public Administration of the State of Bahia
