This National Plan for Aquaculture Technology Promotion during the 12th Five-Year Plan Period (2011-2015) has been formulated in order to effectively improve the ability of aquaculture technology promotion. Concerning enabling more inclusive and efficient aquaculture and food systems, the main targets and actions are set up in the Plan. Efforts will be made to strengthen the demonstration and extension of aquaculture technology to speed up the application of new equipment and new technologies, integrate new technologies such as water saving, land saving, energy saving and emission reduction, and promote the healthy breeding of aquatic products. Efforts shall also be made to strengthen the technical support for breeding and upgrading of aquaculture, strengthen the quality, safety and technical guarantee of aquatic products, to enhance the prevention and control of aquatic animal diseases, fishery technical training and vocational skills appraisal, and actively expand the work in the field of conservation of aquatic resources.
