Regional state nature reserve “Pyakolsky”shall be classified as biological (botanical and zoological) destined for conservation and reproduction of rare and endangered wild fauna species. It shall perform the following functions: (a) conservation and reproduction of wild fauna species, including wetlands biological resources, and maintenance of ecological balance; (b) conservation of natural habitats and migratory routes of wild fauna species; (c) scientific research; (d) environmental monitoring; (e) tourism; and (f) ecological education. The following activities shall be prohibited: (a) all types of hunting, except for hunting for scientific research purposes; (b) all types of fisheries, except for fisheries for scientific research and control purposes; (c) introduction of alien species; (d) timber extraction and collection of non-timber forest resources; (e) haymaking and grazing; (f) waste disposal; (g) exploration and mining; and (h) passage and parking of motor vehicles.
