Resolution on a system of notification of sighting and identification of vessels operating in the Convention Area (C-04-03).

This Resolution of the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC), in order to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing activities in the Convention area undermine the effectiveness of the IATTC conservation and management measures, encourages vessels of IATTC Parties, cooperating non-Parties, fishing entities or regional economic integration organizations (CPCs) to report informally to the Commission Director, if possible in real time, any sightings of vessels that may be fishing contrary to the conservation and management measures of the IATTC and encourages vessels of CPCs to report to their responsible authorities any sightings of vessels that may be fishing contrary to the conservation and management measures of the IATTC on the form attached to this Resolution.
