These Rules, consisting of 62 sections divided into seven Parts and completed by two Schedules, apply to the abalone fishery requirements. The Rules provide for total allowable catch, quotas and closed and opened seasons for abalone fishing. The Rules set out procedures and requirements for obtaining a fishing licence for taking abalone and provides for restrictions on fishing licences. The Rules establish offences and penalties, determining the limits for taking and possessing abalone and abalone meat, including total allowable catch (allowed from 1 January to 31 December in each year), closed and open season for abalone fishing, etc. The Rules further provide for: reporting or notifying the landing and receiving of any fish; commercial abalone dive dockets; landing areas; offences and penalties; etc.
