This Law, consisting of 7 articles, creates the State Programme for Agriculture of Social Interest (PPAIS) aimed at family farmers, thus considered those who meet the requirements of Federal Law No. 11.326 of 24 July 2006, as well as their associations and cooperatives. The objectives of the PPAIS are: encourage the organisation and modernization of production and improve the marketing of family farming products; stimulate the production of family farming, contributing to the practice of adequate prices and expansion of the consumer market; promote the purchase of family farming products for state public bodies. For the achieving the above referred objectives, the organs of the State should use at least 30% of the resources destined for the acquisition of family agriculture foodstuff for public hospitals, prisons, public schools, institutions of social support and other entities.
