Strategy for the development of mechanical engineering for the food and processing industry until 2030 is a nationwide cross-sectoral policy document stating that sustainable development of mechanical engineering for the food and processing industry shall enable food-processing facilities for manufacturing of foodstuffs and agricultural commodities with lower costs and wider range of domestic companies (especially in terms of small and medium-sized businesses) and, on the other hand, creates a stable demand for scientific research and development, supporting and boosting the technological development of the economy of the Russian Federation. The purpose of the development of mechanical engineering for the food and processing industry is an increase in sales volumes of domestic products 3 times by 2030 (in current prices). To achieve this goal, it is necessary to perform the following tasks: (a) to increase the share of domestic machinery and equipment in food and processing industry to 62 percent of domestic market; (b) to increase export of domestic machinery and equipment for the food and processing industry by at least 10 percent annually; and (c) to increase the share of expenditure for scientific research and development in the total revenue of food processing enterprises to at least 2 percent.
