Dangerous Drugs Act [Chapter 15:02].

This Act provides for the regulation of dangerous drugs and contains six parts. Part I contains the short title and definitions. Part II relates to coca bush, coca leaf, raw opium or cannabis plant. It empowers the Minister in charge of administration of the Act (Minister) to prohibit, control or restrict the production, possession, sale, use or distribution of drugs to which this Part applies. Part III is repealed. Part IV applies to drugs such as medicinal opium, cocaine, morphine and other drugs specified in the Schedule and restricts import and export of such drugs. The Minister has the power to regulate the manufacture, sale, possession or distribution of such drugs. Part V provides for control of dangerous drugs and allows the Minister to amend the Schedule and add any derivative of morphine or cocaine or of any salts thereof or any alkaloid of opium or any other drug. The Authority may restrict medical, dental or veterinary practitioner or pharmaceutical chemist or other person who is authorised and who may lawfully possess, deal in or use dangerous drugs under certain situations. It also provides for search, seizure and forfeiture of dangerous drugs. Part VI makes provisions for appointment of inspectors and lays down their powers.
