This Law creates the Animal Welfare Code, which establishes rules for the protection and preservation of animals in the territory of the State of Goiás. The Animal Welfare Code aims to: share socio-economic development with the preservation of the environment, in pursuit of ecological balance; prevent the occurrence of zoonoses and injuries caused by animals; raise awareness among society and ensure its participation in activities involving animals that jeopardize public health and the environment. Animals will be the target of public policies guaranteeing their dignified existence, so that the environment, which is a common good and essential to the healthy quality of life of living beings, remains ecologically balanced for present and future generations.
