The present Regulations establish terms and conditions for quarry permits of all types, exploration licences for particular quarry materials and quarry leases, these include: terms of concession, express consent of the Minister for exploration licenses, specification of quarry materials, etc. The Regulations also establish that the minister may determine areas within the province which will not be available for the issuance of quarry permits or not available for the issuance of exploration licences, for specific periods or indefinitely for the purpose of protecting environmentally sensitive areas; controlling speculation; avoiding land-use conflicts in areas where other uses or activities should be given priority; exercising greater control over known sources of material; etc.
