These Rules are framed in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 53 of the Orissa Irrigation Act 1959 to amend the Orissa Irrigation Rules, 1961 (principal Rules). In Rule 2 of the principal Rules, clauses (d) and (dd) are amended and new clause (hh) is added. Rule 23 is amended and Rule 23-A relating to drawal of water from government source is substituted. Further, Rule 26 is substituted and Rule 27 is deleted. The Schedule to the principal Rules is renumbered as Schedule I and Schedules II and III are added thereafter.
