This Norm establishes the National Programme for the Prevention and Control of Antimicrobial Resistance in Agriculture and Livestock (AgroPrevine) within the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply. AgroPrevine aims to strengthen actions to prevent and control resistance to antimicrobials in agriculture, taking into account the concept of One Health, which establishes the interdependence between human, animal and environmental health, through education, surveillance and agricultural defence activities. AgroPrevine will be coordinated by the Department for the Inspection of Livestock Inputs of the Secretariat for Agricultural and Livestock Protection (DFIP/SDA). In order to prevent, diagnose and control antimicrobial resistance in agriculture, AgroPrevine will promote the following activities related to the objectives and strategic interventions established in the National Action Plan for Prevention and Control of Antimicrobial Resistance: health and sanitary education; epidemiological studies; surveillance/monitoring of antimicrobial resistance and use; strengthening the implementation of infection prevention and control measures; and promoting the rational use of antimicrobials.
