The Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy for Africa 2024 (STISA,2024) emphasizes the critical role of science, technology, and innovation (STI) in driving Africa's socio economic development. Developed during a significant period aligned with the African Union's broader Agenda 2063, STISA,2024 serves as the first of ten incremental strategies aimed at addressing the continent's pressing needs across various sectors, including agriculture, health, energy, and infrastructure. The strategy is built upon six priority areas: Eradication of Hunger and Achieving Food Security; Prevention and Control of Diseases; Communication (Physical and Intellectual Mobility); Protection of our Space; Live Together, Build the Society; and Wealth Creation. These areas are designed to foster sustainable development and collective self reliance among African nations. The document also highlights the importance of a multi disciplinary and multi sectoral approach to innovation and entrepreneurship, which is essential for achieving a knowledge economy and sustainable development. Furthermore, it stresses the need for effective communication of STI benefits to build public trust and confidence. Implementation will occur at national, regional, and continental levels with coordinated efforts to mobilize resources and monitor progress. The strategy aims to transition Africa to an innovation-driven economy, enhancing competitiveness and sustainable development across key sectors.
