This Law establishes the State Food Acquisition Programme (PEAA) within the State of Sergipe, with the primary purpose of promoting and strengthening family farming, socio-economic inclusion, and food and nutritional security for the population of Sergipe. The PEAA aims to guarantee the acquisition of foodstuff to ensure the continuity of supply and encouragement actions for family farming, contributing to the socio-economic and sustainable development of Sergipe's rural communities, generating income and directly benefiting social assistance institutions and families in situations of social vulnerability. The specific objectives of the Programme are: stimulate and strengthen family farming, favoring the socio-economic inclusion of traditional communities by fostering sustainable production, food processing, and income generation; promote the consumption and appreciation of food produced by family farming and traditional communities in the State; promote food supply and access to food for the population experiencing food and nutritional insecurity; encourage the purchase of products from family farming in purchases made by public agencies in the State; increase the consumption of healthy, sustainable food that value local and regional food culture and Food and Nutrition Security (FNS); strengthen marketing networks for products from family farming and traditional peoples and communities in the State of Sergipe; and retain rural youth in the countryside, ensuring the continuity of family farming production and the sustainable development of rural areas through income generation and innovation.
