This Law establishes the “Sergipe Sem Fome” Programme, as a continuous State Public Policy, to promote food and nutritional security, eradicate hunger and reduce poverty in the State of Sergipe. The “Sergipe Sem Fome” Programme is structured around the following four strategic axes: 1. access to quality food for the socially vulnerable population of the State of Sergipe; 2. strengthening sustainable food production and supply, with an emphasis on family farming; 3. social mobilization and intersectoral coordination, aiming at cooperation with public and private entities; 4. food and nutritional education and promotion of healthy eating, incorporating the guidelines of the Food Guide for the Brazilian Population. The Programme's priority beneficiaries are: families and individuals experiencing food insecurity; children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with disabilities in social vulnerability; traditional peoples and communities (indigenous, quilombola, riverside, gypsy, among others), respecting their cultural and territorial specificities; households headed by women, especially in areas with a higher incidence of food insecurity; and the homeless population.
