Recommendation By Iccat Amending Recommendation 07-10 On An Iccat Bluefin Tuna Catch Documentation Program (08-12 SDP).

The Recommendation establishes a scheme for Contracting Parties, Cooperating non-Contracting Parties, Entities, and Fishing Entities (CPCs) to implement a Bluefin Tuna Catch Documentation Scheme (BCD) to identify the origin of bluefin tuna and support conservation measures. This scheme requires a completed and validated BCD for all bluefin tuna landed, delivered to or harvested from farms, or involved in domestic trade, import, export, or re-export, with validation ensuring the information is accurate and the catch is within quotas. For re-exports, a validated Bluefin Tuna Re-export Certificate (BFTRC) is required, supported by the original validated BCD(s). CPCs must communicate validated BCDs or BFTRCs to the ICCAT Secretariat and the relevant competent authorities for trade or transfer, and they are responsible for verifying consignments to ensure compliance with the program, prohibiting trade if documentation is missing or invalid.
