The ICCAT Recommendation for the conservation of South Atlantic swordfish (Rec. 17-03) has been extended through 2026 with revised provisions on total allowable catch (TAC) and annual catch limits. The TAC is set at 10,000 t for 2023–2026, with specific annual catch limits applied to each Contracting Party (CPC) and provisions for authorized transfers. Overharvests must be repaid or deducted from future quotas on a pro-rata basis, while unused portions or underages may be carried over, capped at 10% of the previous year’s quota. The Standing Committee on Research and Statistics (SCRS) will monitor catch levels annually and report to the Commission.
