Resolution 24/01 of the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission integrates climate change into the governance of tuna fisheries by recognizing its impacts on tuna stocks, bycatch, ecosystems, biodiversity, food security, and transboundary management, while recalling key international climate and oceans agreements and scientific work. The Resolution requires the Commission to use climate-related scientific information in developing conservation and management measures, support further research on climate–fisheries interactions, and seek advice from the Scientific Committee on ecological and socio-economic impacts, particularly for developing coastal States, Least Developed States, and Small Island Developing States. It establishes climate change as a standing agenda item across all IOTC subsidiary bodies, assigns specific assessment and reporting roles to relevant Working Parties, and mandates the Secretariat to support climate-related funding, capacity-building, information sharing, and environmentally responsible operations.
