This Regulation establishes the legal framework for how samples are taken and laboratory analyses are conducted to detect residues of pharmacologically active substances in animals used for food production, implementing EU rules (notably Regulation (EU) 2021/808) into Norwegian law. It sets detailed requirements for sampling procedures, analytical methods, validation, quality control, and interpretation of results to ensure reliable detection and enforcement of residue limits, including for both permitted and prohibited substances. It also grants supervisory and enforcement powers to the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, and provides for sanctions and limited exemptions.
