These Guidelines provide the requirements that shall be taken into consideration when transporting GMOs under research, ensuring specialised handling to ensure compliance to regulatory frameworks to minimise potential adverse effects on animals, humans and the environment. The Guidelines concern: packaging requirements; specific requirements for GM plants and experimental animals; procedures in case of accidental release of GMO while being transported and emergency measures taken; offences and penalties.
