Labour Code is the primary legal framework governing employment relations. It establishes the fundamental rights and obligations of employees and employers, emphasizing the protection of workers, fair working conditions, and the prohibition of discrimination and forced labor. The Code is based on principles such as freedom of labor, equality of opportunity, and social partnership, and guarantees key rights including safe working conditions, remuneration, rest, and protection against unlawful dismissal. The Code comprehensively regulates all major aspects of labor relations. It includes provisions on employment contracts, recruitment procedures, collective agreements, working time and rest periods, wages, occupational safety and health, and termination of employment. It also provides specific protections for certain categories of workers, such as women, minors, and workers in hazardous or special conditions. Additionally, it defines mechanisms for social dialogue, including collective bargaining, trade union activities, and procedures for resolving individual and collective labor disputes, including lawful strike action. Women working in rural areas have the right to: upon their written application, one additional day off per month without salary; on the establishment of reduced working hours of no more than 36 hours per week, if a shorter working week is not provided for by federal laws or other normative legal acts of the Russian Federation. In this case, the salary is paid in the same amount as for a full working week. The Code also establishes a system of enforcement and accountability, outlining state supervision, labor inspections, and liability for violations of labor legislation. It provides legal mechanisms for the protection of labor rights through administrative bodies and courts. Regular amendments ensure alignment with constitutional principles, international labor standards, and evolving economic conditions. Overall, the Code serves as a central instrument to balance the interests of employers and employees while promoting stability and fairness in labor relations.
