This Order regulates work involving asbestos and other work where there is a risk of exposure to asbestos dust. It requires employers to assess asbestos-related risks, investigate whether materials may contain asbestos before demolition, repair or maintenance, notify asbestos work to the Danish Working Environment Authority, and prepare written work plans for demolition and certain clean-up activities. It restricts asbestos demolition to authorised undertakings except for short, minor demolition work, and sets detailed protective measures, including delimitation and signage of work areas, dust-tight enclosure and negative pressure where needed, use of suitable work methods, process extraction, cleaning, personal protective equipment, respiratory protection, hygiene and decontamination facilities, and limits on working time with respirators. It also prohibits high-pressure washing of asbestos-containing material, regulates the collection, packaging, labelling and transport of asbestos-containing waste, requires training and instruction, registration of damaged asbestos-containing materials in fixed workplaces, air measurements, worker exposure records to be kept for at least 40 years, and access to health examinations. The Order provides for appeals, penalties, limited derogations, and implements EU rules on protection of workers from asbestos exposure.
