Cantonal Hunting Act (JG)(922.1).

This Cantonal Hunting Act (JG) of Zurich establishes the legal framework for hunting and the protection of wild mammals and birds, defining the responsibilities of the cantonal authorities for delimiting hunting and non‑hunting areas, assigning hunting districts under a lease system, and regulating the content and conditions of hunting leases. It sets rules on entitlement to hunt, recognition of hunting qualifications, and grounds for exclusion, and empowers the government to regulate seasons, weapons, methods, and ecological performance requirements. The Act provides for wildlife‑population monitoring, species and habitat protection measures, targeted interventions in cases of damage or disease, and controls on feeding and invasive species. It regulates prevention and compensation of wildlife damage through a dedicated fund, and includes provisions on public information, research support, training, supervisory structures, appointment and duties of game wardens, administrative penalties, and data‑processing obligations.
