Decree No. 11.367 establishing the basic organisational structure of the Acre Institute for the Environment (IMAC).

This Decree establishes the basic organisational structure of the Institute of Environment of Acre (IMAC) and revokes the previous organisational framework set out in Decree No. 5.625 of 2020. Its principal objective is to define IMAC’s institutional organisation, competencies and administrative responsibilities in order to strengthen environmental governance, regulation and public administration within the State of Acre. The Decree sets out the structure of the Presidency and key directorates responsible for administrative and financial management, water resources, environmental licensing, infrastructure, industry, services, and, following a later amendment, environmental licensing relating to rural activities, forestry and fauna. The Decree further aims to improve the efficiency and coordination of environmental management by clearly allocating responsibilities for environmental licensing, monitoring, inspection, legal support, internal control and public engagement. It empowers IMAC to issue environmental licences and authorisations, support environmental policy development, coordinate monitoring and enforcement activities, and strengthen cooperation with other governmental institutions. By establishing specialised administrative and technical units and defining their functions, the measure seeks to enhance environmental oversight, regulatory effectiveness and the delivery of environmental services throughout Acre.
