These Rules, issued under section 3(5) of the Protection and Conservation of Fish Act, 1950 (East Bengal Act No. XVIII of 1950), amend the Protection and Conservation of Fish Rules, 1985. The amendment ensures that living aquatic organisms confiscated under fisheries enforcement actions are returned to the aquatic environment. Specifically, it requires the release of: live fish fry, shrimp post-larvae and prawn post-larvae.
