These Rules, made under sections 3 and 15 the Fish and Fish Products (Inspection and Quality Control) Ordinance, 1983 (Ordinance No. XX of 1983), amend the Fish and Fish Products (Inspection and Quality Control) Rules, 1997. The amendment replaces the relevant provisions concerning maximum permissible levels of chemical substances (cadmium, lead, mercury, chromium, arsenic, copper and zinc), in fish and fish products with a new table establishing quantitative limits for specified contaminants, with maximum permitted concentrations according to the relevant category of fish or fish product.
