This Decree consists of 28 sections, divided into 7 Chapters: Scope, sphere of application and definitions (I); General provisions (II); Control of appearance of salmonella in animals (III); Measures (IV); Taking of samples (V); Criteria for the revocation of restrictions (VI); Final provisions (VII). This Decree concerns the control of each type of salmonella listed in section 3 in all cattle, pigs and poultry. Supervision and control shall be carried out in accordance with a national control programme to be established by the Department of Agriculture. Testing of animals shall be carried out under responsibility of the District veterinarians. Section 10 lists various restrictions regarding the handling of livestock in the case of occurrence of salmonella.
