The present Decree introduces some phytosanitary and quarantine measures in order to prevent the dissemination of pests which might arise from the importation into Italy from Japan of the plants specified in article 1. Prior to the exportation from Japan, the plants shall be subject to inspection to be carried out by the Japanese phytosanitary authorities (art. 2), so as to guarantee that they are free from the diseases defined under article 2 (2) and they meet the requirements established therein. The plants shall also be accompanied by the certificate referred to in article 3 and, upon arrival into Italy, shall be subject to the quarantine measures contained in article 4. An authorization granted by the Ministry of Agricultural and Forestry Policies is compulsory as well (art. 5).
