This Decree provides for the establishment of a protected submerged park for the purposes indicated in article 3, and particularly: (a) dissemination of knowledge of biological and ecological aspects of the marine and coastal environments; (b) performance of studies and scientific research in the field; (c) improvement of environmental resources. The park shall be bounded by a line joining the points referred to in article 2, covering also the coastal territories which fall within the maritime domain. The park is divided into three zones characterized by different levels of protection: Zone A, Integral Reserve; Zone B, General Reserve; Zone C, Partial Reserve. Article 4 lists out those activities which are prohibited throughout the submerged park (such as hunting and gathering of plant species).
