The Agrifood Research Finland shall operate under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The Agrifood Research Finland shall carry out biological, technological and economic research. In its own administrative sector it shall support the competitiveness of the agricultural and food sector, quality of the production and living environment, viability of rural areas, diversity of agricultural and rural entrepreneurship, interaction between rural and urban areas, and consumer welfare. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry may commission the Agrifood Research Finland to carry out tasks in the administrative sector.
