This Decree, composed of 11 articles, defines the objectives for the conservation and protection of Madeira´s geological heritage. Among the objectives: a) Promoting a conservation and protection policy for geological heritage; b) Identifying, classifying, registering and documenting and spreading on sites of geological interest; c) Promoting the knowledge of geological heritage through research, study as well as training and information on existing resources; d) Promoting community awareness on the importance and relevance of geological heritage; e) Define intervention areas and implementing strategies; f) Promoting the defence of natural resources in harmony with the development of economic activities.
