This Ministerial Decree, in order to protect agricultural crops against pests and diseases and to strengthen plant protection measures, establishes the National Plant Protection and Agrochemistry Service and charges it with: (a) implementing technical policies on chemical and biological means of protecting crops against pests, diseases, weeds and locusts; (b) studying and forecasting the propagation of pests, diseases and weeds; (c) agrochemical servicing of agriculture on a contractual basis; and (d) taking measures to exterminate dangerous agricultural pests.
