The purpose of the present Law is to: a) protect the stock of trees existing in Styria; b) safeguard endemic tree varieties and to guarantee the typical landscape of local communities. Article 2 decrees that tree protection zones shall be established in the whole region of Styria. Article 3 rules that every tree owner shall take all necessary steps to conserve the number of trees on his land. Furthermore, the text – consisting of 9 articles – deals with the following aspects: right of access, access-to-information, competent authorities, penalties and entry into force.
