Ministerial Decree No. 12651 implementing Council Directive 70/220/EEC on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to measures to be taken against air pollution by gases from positive-ignition engines of motor vehicles.

With a view to harmonizing the Greek legislative framework with the provisions of Council Directive 70/220/EEC as regards the prevention of air pollution caused by gases from positive-ignition engines of motor vehicles, the present Decree lays down the EEC type approval procedure of motor vehicles. According to the provisions of article 3 to this Decree, it is not allowed to refuse granting of EEC type approval or national type approval of a vehicle on grounds relating to air pollution by gases from positive-ignition engines of motor vehicles satisfying the requirements set out in the Annexes attached to this Decree.
